EXTEND LAST-MINUTE MAJOR DONOR

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS TO SUPER PACS

Increasingly, super PACS are inserting money into campaigns in a last-minute rush in order to circumvent federal election deadlines.  These deadlines are in place specifically to trigger donor disclosure requirements.  However, these last-minute financial infusions are often not disclosed until well after the election, which does voters zero good.

Congress needs to extend last-minute major donor reporting requirements to super PACs.  These rules require campaign committees to report all contributions of $1,000 or more received in the final 20 days before an election within 48 hours of receiving them.
